Cart Mill Family Centre

Cart Mill Family Centre required the design and construction of a new purpose-built Early Years facility in the village of Clarkston, south of Glasgow, relocating from a nearby secondary school.

The site did not have any demolition requirements, however it had been previously used by Scottish water for infrastructure work. This meant that ground conditions had to be re-established in advance of construction which took considerable time. Our precision manufacturing method allowed for the building to be manufactured offsite while this extensive groundworks was taking place, resulting in no delays to the programme.

As the site was surround by housing in a quiet cul-de-sac, to respect those living nearby, a programme of community engagement was carried out throughout the project. This included written communications informing residents of road closures or possible disruptions.

The new facility features four open plan nursery spaces, administration offices, staff room, family room and an entrance lobby. Further renovations to the site to make it more accessible included a car park, footpath, access road and flood risk upgrading.
