Basingstoke AAU & Step Down Facility
We worked with Basingstoke Hospital in Hampshire on several new projects as part of a large NHS investment over a number of years. These works included new radiotherapy and oncology facilities, consultant suites, a new care step down facility & an acute assessment ward. All of these projects were completed in a live hospital environment and our precision manufacturing method offered huge benefits in terms of minimising disruption on site and the speed of delivery of the projects.
The first of these buildings to be installed was the New Care Facility Step Down enabled the Foundation Trust to create an additional 20 bed facility for patients who have recovered from a serious injury but need a transition period from main hospital care to home care.
The Acute Accident Unit (AAU) provided the hospital with 16 emergency bed spaces, 3 consultant suites and a range of ancillary rooms. A key challenge in this project was the creation of a sixteen-meter link bridge suspended above the ambulance route for maximum use of available space. This structure provides a direct link from the A&E and the new AAU.
