ESS Group colleague calling for donations to support Ukrainians seeking refuge from war
As the war in Ukraine continues our thoughts are with all of those who are impacted at this terrible time.
ESS colleague Jon Baldwin, a Senior Quantity Surveyor, based in our Manchester Office, has decided to do what he can to help the Ukranian people, as he explains:
Jon said, “We were sat watching the news and I just kept thinking that this shouldn’t be happening and I wanted to help. My wife Katrina is of Ukranian descent, and her Grandad left the Ukraine to settle in the UK following WW2.
We got chatting about how we could help and we decided to concentrate on supplies for the people crossing the border into Poland. Within 2 days we’d found a van, got ferry tickets and started collecting items – it’s all happened pretty quickly really.”
Jon is currently organising the transport of vital medical and sanitary supplies, supported by NRS who are providing the van along with drivers; Simpson Judge, who are assisting with the Hull to Rotterdam return ferry trip; and local schools in Blackburn and Darwen, Riverside Nursery, St Paul’s, Feniscowles, St Barnabas CE Primary Academy, Ashleigh Primary School and St Edwards Primary School.
ESS Group has donated 650 emergency blankets to the effort, but they also require donations of the following:
