Structural Engineer

Dublin

Role

We are seeking a Structural Engineer to work with an inhouse team to develop structural designs and contribute to the engineering of modular buildings. You will work closely with a small team reporting to the Head of Engineering in designing volumetric steel residential, pharmaceutical, healthcare, educational and commercial modular buildings.

You will work collaboratively with our outstanding team of creative and innovate people including architects, fabricators, designers, other engineers and contractors to consistently meet the high standards we have set and the needs of our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Performing structural engineering calculations for timber, concrete, masonry and timber
  • Performance simulations including sizing, selecting and specifying Structural components and systems
  • Ensure designs are compliant with Company’s principles of design for manufacturing, assembly, and systems integration
  • Preparing drawings; developing and monitoring proposals; scopes and budgets
  • Undertaking factory and site inspections in both the UK and Ireland
  • Compiling structural specifications and responding to relevant RFI’s

Requirements

  • Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in a Civil/Structural Engineering office design role
  • Full IT proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Robot/MASTERSERIES/similar 3D wireframe modelling, TEDDS, MS Office etc. would all be an advantage
  • Experience with cold formed/light gauge steel would be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of steelwork design required with experience in reinforced concrete, timber and masonry
  • Knowledge and experience of Eurocodes

Role & Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for the creation of a collaborative digital working environment between each department throughout the company. Ensuring the management, integrity and security of digital information created throughout the company and management of the common data environment with internal staff and external project stakeholders.

It is imperative for the candidate to have a good understanding of the contractual and commercial aspects of Digital Deliverables, and ensuring compliance against industry, government and client requirements. A vocal advocate of Digital Delivery, promotes best practice, assists in delivering training/learning programmes, and supports project teams. Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to bring efficiencies and value to projects, clients and the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing & Implementing company standards and protocols for digital construction processes and procedures.
  • Developing & implementing hardware infrastructure to ensure collaborative working and flow of information.
  • Working across multiple projects as VDC manager.
  • Responsible for providing digital delivery project fee estimates / monitoring spend

/ recording efficiencies and reporting issues to company directors.

  • Ensures that all BIM level 2 project mobilisation, contractual documentation and delivery are successfully executed in accordance with client employer information requirements (EIR).
  • Establishes, manages and controls the common data environment.
  • Ensures the security of all digital project information, including appropriate security vetting for access to the common data environment, and confident in raising non-compliances where they occur.

 

  • Responsible for verifying the final project information model against the master information delivery plan.
  • Raising technical queries and early warnings with the fabrication workshop and construction manager onsite.
  • Be the main point of contact and the authority of BIM on a project, including providing leadership and guidance on the project.
  • Assesses capability and training needs and proactively implements training and support when required
  • Liaising with client representatives, project manager, site supervisors and with company design team.
  • Working with Contractors to meet their BIM requirements and responsible for handover of Project Information Models.
  • Daily management of digital workflows, coordinating and driving the timely delivery of project information.
  • Conduct regular model reviews and audits
  • Support & train all departments on BIM protocols and standards
  • Development of models and reports in line with company requirements.
  • Manage the in-house design team drawing control and drawing schedules, ensuring all is up to date with drawing management.
  • Assistance in the overall development of the BIM protocols and systems. This to include marketing BIM capability as necessary to external clients/consultants.
  • Ensure continual improvement of modular and prefabricated building processes and procedures investigating new and future technologies.

Requirements specifically in relations to knowledge of modular construction, prefabrication design, electrical and mechanical coordination is essential

Technical 

  • A strong understanding of all stages of the construction process from design, construction to the final maintained building asset.
  • Advance knowledge on utilising of BIM software is essential - Revit, Navisworks and AutoCad at a minimum;
  • Experience using the BIM 360 platform advantageous;
  • A good understanding of BIM Level 2 standards, requirements and industry BIM protocol;
  • Ten years (minimum) experience in a construction role with four years (minimum) experience in a similar BIM coordination/management role.
  • Degree/ Diploma in a Construction related discipline
  • Construction experience on large scale projects and Design coordination experience across multiple disciplines.

M & E Revit Technician

Dublin

Role

We are currently recruiting a Mechanical & Electrical Revit Technician. The M&E Revit Technician will work within the architectural and engineering design departments and take ownership of M&E modelling, clash detection, converting 2D drawings to 3D models etc. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Revit Technician to work in a progressive and growing company on a variety of projects. This role is based in Dublin 22 and will require some travel.

Responsibilities

 

  • Detailing and assisting the Senior M&E Engineers with the daily design work
  • Building and altering models in Revit, product research, clash detection, converting 2D drawings to 3D models and sharing Revit knowledge with the wider design team
  • Producing accurate 2D and 3D drawings using company standard Revit processes and procedures
  • Attending site meetings in Ireland & UK and producing reports and answering queries on drawings
  • Ability to carry out a wide range of tasks in support of technical staff and capable of undertaking duties unsupervised
  • Reviewing project files for compliance with Standards/protocols
  • Coordinating drawing production in line with project requirements and in conjunction with other disciplines
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and able to work alone or with a team

Requirements

  • You have a minimum of 4 years’ experience as an M&E Technician
  • Full IT proficiency with Revit is essential, Autocad & Navisworks would be an advantage
  • Experience with Dialux/Relux lighting design, IES VE and Amtech electrical design would be an added advantage
  • Strong interpersonal skills

Project Manager

Dublin and London

Role

As the Project Manager you will be responsible for the effective management of the project from initial client contact to project handover and thereafter to end of warranty period, ensuring projects are completed to cost, programme, quality and safety standards.

In conjunction with Management and the project team you will be responsible for the execution of various stages of a project as follows:

Phase1- Project Start up

  • Schedule and chair handover of project from estimating department to construction team. 
  • Liaise with the Operations Director/ Contract manager in relation to resources for project. 
  • Validate project and in doing so develop business plan, cost control system, cash flow and billable schedules, etc. 
  • Produce procurement plan, drawing / design plan, construction programme
  • Liaise with client and design team on procurement and design issues. 
  • Develop project safety and quality plans. 
  • Mobilise sub-contractors and labour in accordance with business plan. 
  • Mobilise site establishment. 
  • Development Project measure prior to commencement of Construction in line with the agreed project programme 
  • Ensure projects team familiarity with the Projects contract requirements  

Phase 2- Start Up

  • Arrange and manage handover of project from estimating department to construction team. 
  • Liaise with the Operations Director / Contract manager of the project regarding staffing for the project.

  • Produce procurement plan, drawing / design plan, construction programme
  • Liaise with client and design team on procurement and design issues.

Phase 3 - Project Running

  • Agree a training plan for staff and operatives particular to your site in conjunction with the operations Director
  • Manage your site team: 
  • in the effective day to day running of site activities 
  • to ensure the delivery of the project within the given constraints of time and cost.  
  • Ensure compliance with programme, materials deliveries, and design, quality and safety issues. 
  • Ensure compliance with Contract requirements  
  • Attend meetings with client. 
  • Hold weekly progress meetings with sub-contractors and ensure that safety and training are discussed. 
  • Hold monthly team meetings to discuss project progress against milestones 
  • Ensure effective cost and sales control in conjunction with Q.S & design.
  • Advise client in good time of current sales plan. 
  • Ensure productivity at work face is measured on a weekly basis also maintain project progress control. 
  • Submit regular timely reports to the Operations Director/ Contract manager as required
  • To minimise company exposure to risk on the project. 
  • Manage and coordinate installation of the project. 
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant technical aspects within construction industry standards and local authorities’ requirements if applicable 
  • Manage labour and subcontractors ensuring compliance for installation in accordance with the project’s specification and contract documentation 
  • To ensure that all health, safety and welfare obligations associated with the project delivery are met. 
  • To create and execute project work plans and revise as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements. 
  • To ensure that relations with the client and all stakeholders in the project are maintained and managed to an appropriate level. 
  • To apply the client’s methodology effectively and enforce project standards. 
  • To ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately. 
  • Audit and prepare on-site quality plans 
  • Monitor & maintain site EHS requirements 
  • Establish an effective material stock control and storage system 

Phase 3 – Project Completion

  • Understand the requirements and actions to be taken to test, commission and handover the project prior to the commencement of the commissioning period 
  • Ensure testing and commissioning is carried out in accordance with the Quality Plan and projects specific requirements. 
  • Ensure final design audit (if applicable) is carried out by the ED. 
  • Complete and certify all ‘life systems’ in good time for handover date. 
  • Ensure all systems are demonstrated to Client and projects Building control officer. 
  • Issue O&M manual format’s for approval prior to final submission 
  • Handover O&M manual and record drawings. 
  • Prepare final account with the QS, submit and agree with client in line with company objective. 
  • Demobilise site team and establishment in conjunction with the Operations Director. 
  • Produce a project close-out report and submit to the Operations Director. 
  • Archive project server and EHS files in accordance with DEL’s requirements. 
  • Maintain contact with client for warranty period and thereafter when retention monies are collected. 
  • Undertake a lessons learnt review on the project and present these findings to the Operations Director.  
  • Post contract completion i.e. clearing site/archiving/financial & practical review/installed drawings and manuals/secure disposal of confidential information and system

People Management

  • Ensure all project teams have the required EHS training  
  • Providing a positive contribution towards your team’s performance and development by: 

- setting objectives at the start of the year 

- monitoring progress against specific objectives/ KPIs throughout the year 

 - discussing progress against these objectives at performance reviews 

- acting as a mentor and advising on training development opportunities 

Requirements

  • Degree/ Diploma in a Construction related discipline

Head of Estimating

As part of the next planned stage of growth and development, a fantastic new opportunity has come about for an experienced Head of Estimating, working as part of the Commercial Team.

With growth planned throughout the next 5 years, this role offers excellent opportunities for progression in both the short and long term.

 

Responsibilities

  • Preparing and collating accurate, detailed and timely tenders based on drawings, specifications, bills of quantities, and other information to secure profitable work orders.
  • Sourcing subcontractor and supplier quotations, analysing information for ambiguity, risk, and qualification and seeking clarification where necessary.
  • Preparation of estimates (Both for Direct & Indirect costs)
  • Analysis of engineering drawings
  • Material take-offs
  • Preparation of sub-contractor and supplier enquiries and contract documents
  • Liaison with clients, sub-contractors and suppliers and handle any queries
  • Liaison with sub-consultant and in-house engineering design teams
  • Assessment of different options and solutions
  • Attending pre and post tender meetings/presentations including presenting estimates to Directors.
  • Preparing BOQ’s under ARM & NRM for various construction schemes in Ireland and GB
  • The successful candidate will assist in the ongoing development of systems and procedures used in tendering and will keep up to date with contractual changes and other developments in the construction industry.  
  • You will work both in a team and on their own initiative and will have excellent IT skills include familiarity with MS office applications including Excel and a QS or related package

Requirements

  • You should have at least 5 years’ experience in an estimating or an Estimating/QS role together with third level qualifications in QS or a related construction discipline.
